Still Learning — A Mom’s Life in Québec

Hi! I’m Serena.

Welcome! I’m a Korean mom of two, and after years of adapting to different cultures—from Sydney to Singapore to New Zealand—my family and I finally settled in Montréal, Québec, in 2016.

Since our first son was born that same year, I’ve been navigating life as a parent and a permanent resident here. That means I’ve spent 9 years deeply immersed in Québec living and have 6 years of firsthand experience managing the unique challenges of the French public school system and local budgeting.

This blog is where I document our journey, sharing the practical lessons I’ve learned—especially the ones that save time and money! You’ll find stories and verified tips on parenting multilingual kids, mastering the Québec subsidy and tax-saving system, easy family recipes, and local travel.

My goal is to offer comfort and provide concrete, reliable tips that genuinely help other newcomer families and parents who are, like me, still figuring things out one day at a time.

Beyond writing, I love transforming my favorite Québec memories and local inspirations—like the vibrant seasons or iconic Montréal scenes—into unique designs.

I’m still learning—and I hope we keep growing through this space together.
